Bakeathon begins... TOMORROW!

30 days of baking, here we come! Been searching various cookbooks, saved recipes, blogs and websites for recipes I want to try out. So far, I've found several that I'm REALLY excited about! I am *attempting* to bake as nutritious as possible, but, sometimes, you need to splurge a little... Ahem, chocolate chip & Oreo cookie brownies WILL be made sometime this month. How could I POSSIBLY not bake those?! :)

Just received these beautiful, organic carrots today. Can't wait to use them to kick off the baking tomorrow!

Now, I just need someone to eat it all... Any volunteers? ;)

Giveaway!!

Who doesn't love a good giveaway?? Especially one without strings attached! My awesome friend Missy is giving away an equally awesome Halloween plug-in Scentsy at her blog Diary of a Smart Blonde. Go check it out!

Organic Milk

Such a great article. Thanks This Chick Cooks! When I was pregnant, we went through a gallon of milk every other day... I CRAVED milk. That's when we started consistently buying organic milk. I am blessed with a mother that has always been interested in healthy eating, and has passed that onto me, so I think I'm a tad more knowledgeable than the average bear. I'm not a size 0 or obsessed with low-fat eating (which is unhealthy in itself), however, I am passionate about the quality of ingredients my family puts into their bodies, especially now that I am a Mommy. I like to cook and bake this way as well and am in constant search of recipes that support our healthy lifestyle (organic, whole wheat, whole grains, low/no refined sugars, etc.). I've been lucky to find a couple in the past few days... Will be sharing soon! But, if anyone has any to share with ME, I'd love, love, LOVE it!

Baking, Baking, Baking!!!

I came across this at My Baking Addiction and had to share... Pumpkin Pie Spice

I have SO MANY spices! I'm excited to make my own concoction with all of them :)

Now that its fall, all I can think about is baking. I decided one of these days I'm going to start a month long bake-athon. A new recipe, picture(s) and yummy deliciousness every day. However, I AM trying to eat healthy, so I'm going to TRY to make these healthy recipes. That will be my challenge! Who's hungry?? ;)

50 Rules for Dads of Daughters

So, I've been incredibly crummy at blogging lately. Macie is full into her second week of no decent naps and waking up every 1-2 hours throughout the night. I. AM. TIRED.

I came across this list of "rules" for Daddies. I just had to share. I was already teary by #5. I am so blessed that I have such a wonderful husband in Joey. He already follows a lot of these rules <3

What teachers really want to tell parents....

I shared this article on my Facebook page yesterday, but I wanted to re-post here. I miss teaching. I miss the kids that need me. I miss seeing the growth in their learning. I miss Christmas activities and Readers Theater and anything and everything that brings out that sparkle in a child's eyes. I, however, unfortunately, do not miss the parents. This article explains why. I was blessed in the 7 years I taught to come across a handful of parents that were completely supportive and encouraging. Some of these have even brought tears to my eyes with their beautiful words about my efforts. Unfortunately, the majority of parents I've encountered are described in this article. I think it is a must read for every parent with school aged children. I love Ron Clark for writing it!

What Teachers Really Want to Tell Parents

7 months

I am in awe of this child that continues to grow and change everyday... I can't believe how much my life has changed since Macie has come into our lives! Its amazing how a baby completely alters your priorities and way of thinking... You ALWAYS hear parents say that, but really, its unimaginable until you become a Mommy or Daddy! We love you precious Macie! Even though you've been waking Mommy up an average of 4-5 times a night for the past week, we still want to keep you ;)
